Despite their unique shape, EdgeCenters are all highly evolutive. They are also built for continuous operation over many years without requiring maintenance.

The semi-passive cooling system based on low-profile heatsinks and Fluid Dynamic Bearing mini blowers is a PiixL exclusive and guarantees exceptional thermal efficiency, maintaining all components in their nominal temperature ranges at all time. Moreover, we only source the very best of each component type that go in a EdgeCenter (and we mean that) to guarantee MTBF figures vastly superior to what can be usually found on the Personal Computer market. Fans are mounted with 100% redundancy and carries 80,000 Hrs Mean Time Between Failures each, while being replaced by passive solutions wherever possible. Cutting edge Power Supply Units are all Telecom type and labelled 300,000+ MTBF. The list goes on but if we had to sum this up, we could just say that EdgeCenters are at the very top of their game in terms of reliability, which means they can be mounted and left behind flat screens for years, including in High-Availability and 24/7 environment. 

All aluminium chassis, shock-mounted components, ultra-high reliability power-circuitry and cooling subsystems mean that the overall life-expectancy of the system will almost always go beyond the point where a computer becomes obsolete. Well this is one of the areas where we also want to do things differently : by durable, we don't only mean  reliable, or energy-efficient, we mean a computer that lasts, and has enough design flexibility for it to be upgradable in the future. As such all of our customers will have the opportunity to ship their systems back to us for them to be partially or fully updated at a fraction of their cost, whenever they feel the need for it.
